This cool five tonne steel staircase created for Longchamp’s store in New York creates a flowing landscape that draws shopper in and up to the retail space.
I think this staircase is beautiful and very clever architecture. I think it would serve its purpose very well. I can assure you if I walked past a shop with these stairs I would go in just to go up them. This image came from the July/August Vogue Living 2011

‘Whytie’ by artist Ben Quilty hangs above a vintage kantha textile from Sally Campbell on a 1930s armchair. On the Tibetan cabinet bought in Tokyo is an African wedding hat from Chee Soon & Fitzgerald, a Mao figure from the Hong Kong markets and a 1920s Japanest paper lantern found in Tokyo.

Calling to mind Singapore slings by the Raffles pool à la Somerset Mugham, the peacock  chair is one of the staples of statement furniture. Architectural in its scope and exquisite in its detailing, the peacock’s silhoutte is now being embraced in a variety of materials and against an expanding range of decor backdrops.
See page 24 of Vogue Living Jan/Feb 2012 to discover some contemporary takes on a chair as grand as the bird that inspired it.
